Request Access ← Back to Port ElysiumPort Elysium is its own water company. The estate captures the rain that falls on its roofs, roads and open ground, purifies it and puts it to work for drinking and irrigation; desalinated seawater makes up the rest and covers a dry year. Every drop of wastewater is treated on site and reused, and no untreated sewage is ever discharged near the lagoons or reefs.
Long Island has no dependable fresh groundwater and existing homes rely on tankers. Port Elysium supplies its own drinking water and runs a full wastewater service from the first home, with the public utility only as backup.
Rain, landscape, lakes and stormwater are managed as one water system, and every metered connection is an income stream.
Swales and sumps feed lined reservoirs, and the water is purified for drinking and irrigation.
Containerised plants with the latest energy-saving membranes make the balance, mainly in daylight on solar power.
Enough stored supply, plus a spare plant, that a peak day or a breakdown never interrupts water.
Compact plants on site produce reuse-quality water in one step.
Treated water runs in its own separate network to landscape, toilets, farms and lakes.
Every connection's meter listens to the pipe around the clock and flags leaks.
A few works are built once; everything else is added block by block as homes are completed: factory-built desalination trains, tanks and wastewater plants, each ordered when the roads or forecast demand cross a trigger, with pipes laid zone by zone by our own crew in the trenches cut with each road. The shortlisted desalination and wastewater suppliers have delivered and commissioned plants on Bahamian islands since 2024.
Equipment is bought from whichever country gives the best overall deal, and that country's export credit agency can fund up to 85% of eligible equipment, on terms of up to 22 years for water projects.
